24. Merry Christmas

December 24, 2009

The final and the best day of the month has arrived. Because this day is a very special day, I will post three songs instead of one. Thank you for tagging along during this month and checking out the music. May you have a blessed and music filled Christmas and an exciting New Year.

Orion

This song is an instrumental track by Metallica off of their Master of Puppets record from 1986. It was one of the first songs that I learned to play on bass. My bass-hero Cliff Burton plays a lead and solo on bass, which made it even more fun for me to learn the bass parts.

On The Mend

A live recording of Foo Fighters playing this beautiful songon one of their acoustic gigs.

What A Difference A Day Made

Jamie Cullum sets the mood for this day. Sit down, relax, take off your shoes and chill.

Thank you and once again a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

23. You Would Have Loved This

December 23, 2009

Tarja Turunen performs a song off of her Christmas album Henkäys Ikuisuudesta.

22. Chaos

December 22, 2009

Mute Math rocks. This seems to happen even in live situations.

21. The Human Stain

December 21, 2009

Kamelot is a good band. I like the singer’s voice and his stage presence. Me and my sister went to their gig in Helsinki last year, one of the best shows I’ve been to.

20. For Martha

December 20, 2009

I discovered the song For Martha by The Smashing Pumpkins in the fall of 2003. One of the things that appeals to me in this song is the emotional and stripped down atmosphere.

19. Ghost Love Score

December 19, 2009

Heavy metal combined with soundtrack music is something that like very much. Ghost Love Score is in my opinion a very good example of such a combination. This song was very special for me during my first weeks in the military and it still is.

18. Hymn To Her

December 18, 2009

Beautiful guitar leads and mellow vocals are some of the elements in Camel’s stuff that I like. Hymn To Her has both of those elements. Brilliant.

17. Wither

December 17, 2009

Wither is a song off of Dream Theater’s latest album. I’m a sucker for these kinds of music videos consisting of footage of the artist or band in real life, e.g. in the studio or on tour.

16. Battery

December 16, 2009

Well, we can’t have a music calendar without some thrash metal. Here’s a video of Metallica and the San Fransisco Symphony performing Battery.

15. Thunderstruck

December 15, 2009

Thunderstruck by AC/DC  is one of the first rock songs that really hit home for me. I remember when me and my sister were younger and we listened to this track from a cassette and just feeling very happy. Maybe we should do that again this Christmas.
